There is an old saying which goes, “comedians are not paid to do shows, we are paid to travel to the show.”

If it were true, then I am grossly underpaid since I seem to be in transit for most of my life these days. Which isn’t such a bad thing if I imagine that all the time spent in the air makes me not part of Earth anymore, but rather part of the greater cosmos. For a blink of time’s eye, I am just as the Moon, Sun and Mutara Nebula are: not tethered to the confines of this particular rock.

Yes. Tons of mental gymnastics to alleviate the cognitive dissonance of my life!

Consider this upcoming happy fun time: fly to China for shows, then fly back to Los Angeles and immediately switch planes to fly out to Malaysia. Not that I mind. I don’t. Just explaining the kinds of things that happen here at OgataCo.

But I’d have it no other way. Especially since I’m flying back to Malaysia for the Kuala Lumpur International Comedy Festival! A bunch of shows with great friends and hilarious comics from around the planet… who could ask for anything more?

You’ll have 3 chances to catch me at the festival. The first at the festival Gala Night, “To Know Malaysia Is To Laugh Malaysia,” on 18 April at 8:30pm. Then on 23 April at 2:00pm it’s time for, “Making S#it Up,” which is part Whose Line, part DVD bonus footage and part soccer riot. Finally, catch my 1-hour show, “Nucular Realator,” on 23 April at 6:00pm.

It’s going to be a wild time, all curated by the godfather of Malaysian comedy himself, Harith Iskander. And all happening at Black Box, Publika, in Kuala Lumpur.

I’ll also be heading out of KL to do shows in Penang, Melaka and Kota Kinabalu. Details on those shows soon!

See you again so very soon Malaysia.
